My Thoughts. As with the Wonder Woman Classics, this release is intended for those of us who missed out on a golden age of Wonder Woman in the late 70's and early 80's. Where the Classics were intended to be a gateway into the character for new readers, this video is being made for those of us who remember the character and want to see it in a new way. The video, by the way, is actually by director Richard Donner (who also directed the Classic Wonder Woman).
The original Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) with Lynda Carter, was made in the late 70's and early 80's. There are some pretty huge changes between these two Wonder Woman's: costume, behavior, etc. The Classic Wonder Woman wore a leotard with a tiara, corset, bracelets and wings. She's also generally portrayed as more naive (mostly because of Diana's age at the time) and a bit flighty (unlike the current Wonder Woman).
In the new release, we see Diana Prince (Lynda Carter) as a grown woman. She's seen with short hair and a more mature wardrobe. There's no flying, corset or bracelets. No tiara either. She's also seen in a business suit (very briefly) and acts like a typical business woman.
One of the most significant differences between the Classic Wonder Woman and the New Wonder Woman is the new character of Diana Prince. The Classic Wonder Woman was a wonderful character: strong, intelligent, passionate, fun loving, courageous, intelligent, and always tried to be a good person. The Classic Wonder Woman was a Wonder Woman who was to be admired. She embodied everything that was good about the female character.
The New Wonder Woman is a different character entirely. Diana Prince is not Wonder Woman. She's a business woman who is often very guarded. She cares about being seen as perfect (never a Wonder Woman trait) and is usually very focused on herself. She's been raised to be a princess and think of herself as a princess. She's someone who would be disgusted with the idea of taking a shower with other women. She's someone who would think it vulgar to use a small spoon to serve herself a snack. She's also a woman who would be proud to be used by a man. She's not a Wonder Woman. She's a character who is frequently angry and can be selfish. She can also be generous and kind but those things would often be out of character for
